The anti-semitic screed was soft-pedaled. The nationalistic and anti-communist elements were pushed harder, and the elements like acceptance of 'half-jews' and non-thule society, anti-semite espousing people allowed many infiltrators and people bent on softening the hammer of the core assholes room to maneuver. Not that most intelligence groups didn't have some members without hedging.

Still, Rudolf Hess comes to mind. Flew straight to Scotland and was imprisoned in the Tower of London? Assassinated and body hidden? MI-6 Agent? Abducted with a double 'processed'? He was absolutely a Nazi. But hm. What was he really? I care about underlying motives. Not just the stuff people spew as part of their persona. So do most non-armchair, kneejerk historians.

You also have to think about how when slaves were running away in 1858 how many Democrats in the South became conveniently blind.

Of course, lots of it was wrapped around crap like this (from the wikipedia page for Aktion T4) This poster (from around 1938) reads: "60,000 Reichsmark is what this person suffering from a hereditary defect costs the People's community during his lifetime. Fellow citizen, that is your money too. Read '[A] New People', the monthly magazine of the Bureau for Race Politics of the NSDAP." In today's buying power, that's 3,000,000 dollars. In a time of severe deprivation, starvation and financial disaster... hearing that one person could cost 3,000,000 dollars probably made a lot of folks get morally blind. Not that today's social climate would be affected that way. But think how many people take dogs to shelter for pissing on a few rugs and you can see how that might gain a foothold in a hard-bitten social clime. Don't get ME wrong, I think it's as messed up as all get out, but play anyone hard enough for long enough and you can break through an awful lot of common sense, love and wisdom. Individuals are wonderful... but as a group? IQ drops radically.

BTW. Where I was getting to with that... was the U.S. didn't give a crap even then. Pretty much could care less until Pearl Harbor. But about that time(1938), FDR (the president in a wheelchair) and Churchill began corresponding regarding U.S. aid and possible participation. Makes for fascinating reading in Churchill's 'The Gathering Storm'. Watching aid for Great Britain against the German war machine turn from a trickle to a flood over 3 years and Churchill's cornering of the government after being shuffled off to Buffalo when he first warned of major German lapses in the WWI Armistice accords.

How bad was the U.S. at the time? A ship full of Jewish refugees were denied asylum in New York, Canada and Cuba and had to go back to Belgium. A quarter of them died in concentration camps later. So it's pretty easy to toss around the Nazi label but honestly, they weren't a whole lot worse than the U.S. Government under FDR, or the Canadian Government under George VI either. It was a bad time, people were hard out of fear, and there wasn't a lot of concern about what was going on half a world away or even right over there in Berlin. Julius Goat is a fucking nitwit without any form of understanding of what the world was like then. Or he'd far more cogent insights than something he probably picked up on Family Guy.Blonde Orc vs. Orange Orchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06840586245875944376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077390606481159043.post-81984699225017256332017-11-17T13:13:37.844-08:002017-11-17T13:13:37.844-08:00I had interpreted Vincent's death not so much ...I had interpreted Vincent's death not so much as Jules avoiding the same fate but that Jules wasn't there to protect Vincent at a vulnerable moment because he had chosen to abandon his duty.

Your explanation makes more sense I think.DuggleBogeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02919663542675107189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077390606481159043.post-2640203375863035732017-09-22T04:58:30.065-07:002017-09-22T04:58:30.065-07:00this is brilliantthis is brilliantLynnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12624357413775091248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077390606481159043.post-80134004304854822982017-09-21T23:26:45.431-07:002017-09-21T23:26:45.431-07:00Thank you - Thank you - Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07740950210227508805noreply@blogger.com
